Artist Statement
I strive for originality and Harmony with a strong graphic element throughout my work.
Beginning the creative process through research, I will sketch, paint and visualise the process in my mind’s eye, after which I am compelled to begin the process of experimentation and ultimately making. I like to work with a variety of processes.
As a glass artist/designer i am inspired by the process and transformation of pattern from a flat decorative surface print or painting to a more interesting and tactile 3D peice of glasswork that evokes many possibilities in terms of form, function, light and space. From richly textured coloured glass, to water jet cut glass kiln formed to a position in time, all involve research and repetition of process as a means to develop and refine learnt techniques in the art of glass.
